Skatecamp Day 3

Tanner skates a parking block without regard to a heavy arm

Day three is over and the fun times don't stop. My photo work today leaves something to be desired, but just wait til the video comes out. Nick has been working hard and catching all the bangers on film. Matt Dockum was our guest skater today and he hosted two killer street comps. While all walked away with tricks landed and free Thrasher gear, it was Jake Gaudet who ruled the street comp and Pat Precourt who came away with the ledge comp victory.
We loaded up the van at noon and made our way over to Flipside in Rutland. That park is amazing, which was an opinion shared by all. We had a great flatbar session and Brandon was airing over the large flybox with style.
Tricks were landed by all, too many to recount. All right, Ill recount a few. Ryan boardslid off the ramp into the bank (see photo). Jake was landing backside flips. Tanner kickflip boardslid the parking block and Connor, Jay and Finn ollied broomsticks.

Skatecamp Day 2

Pat Precourt and Brandon Corbessero take separate plunges

Conner Thompson grinds up and Finn meets the Grimm Sweeper

The ball is rolling and we rolled with it today. SMS park is so fun, and we had trouble leaving it this morning. Guest Skater Vinny "Grimm Sweeper" D'Ottavio skated fast with the kids and hosted a mini ramp jam, a game of SKATE and a manual contest by the days end. He also showed Finn his back tattoo.
We pried ourselves away from SMS by noon and cruised over to Vinny's local park in Ludlow. The park has lots to offer. Brandon learned to drop into real vert. Jake won a hectic game of SKATE against half of the camp. The prize was a much coveted Never Summer longboard which will take Jake on some killer VT cruises. Tanner's balance won him the longest manual comp. Stefan popped flip tricks and walked away in style with some new Converse.

Stefan keeps it street

The day of skating was followed up by another choice swim spot, where Tanner, Ryan and Wyatt spun tricks off the rock into the chilly pool.

Skate Camp Day 1

Monday was the only day of forecasted rain, yet the Skatecamp pulled off a day full of outdoor parks and swimming. What a start! It is great to see old campers return. Nothing but smiles as I saw Pat Precourt, Ryan Wadsworth and Rory for the first time since last year. Mixing these old pals with locals like Jake Gaudet, Jay Vallario and Tanner Pawlak made for a busy and social morning. And I was more than happy to welcome new campers, Finn Shiely, Connor Thompson, Brandon Corbessero, Wyatt Buchalter, Nathan Hunter and Stefan Himmel.
I saw great tricks and progression out of the entire crew. The morning was spent getting readjusted to the full skate lifestyle and mindset. I could tell right off the bat that Pat Precourt has not let his skate get dusty since Ive seen him last, and his counterpart Ryan earned First Blood of Skatecamp with a nicked shin.
Nathan Hunter didn't quite realize what he was getting into, but wasted no time getting into it. He learned to drop into transitioned ramps today and has a nice ollie.
Stefan impressed me with the esoteric Casper flip, Tanner outdid me for most injured skater by skating the day away in an arm cast, and Brandon blew me away with pop-shuvs, kickflips and great style. Another highlight was seeing my old skate partner Skip's son Connor ripping around with his Old Man's style.

Rory plants a foot

After getting our legs under us at the SMS park, we hit the road and skated Wardsboro's park. We skirted the puddles and had a blast. Parrish backside 5050ed a good size Hubba to earn one of the pairs of Oakley shades on the line.
We then hit the local swim hole where Finn Shiely made his first-day impession on all by front flipping into the drink (see photo).

FINN drops in

After cooling off it was on to the Mt Snow Park where all sorts of tricks went down. See photos below and ponder Ryan's dog pisser wallride and Pat's giant gap kickflip.
Thanks to Oakley for sponsoring Day One of Skatecamp. I can't wait for Day Two!
